From Red To Grey.

People like the red fox. Heck! I really like the red fox… I thought I’d try to spice things up just a bit, but not too much (my Scandinavian blood can’t handle it)… So here is the first grey fox!

The Grey Fox

An Anonymous Suggestion.

Someone on the interweb suggested that I illustrate a Pheasant. I’m not sure why I didn’t think of it earlier, it was a good idea.

So here he is, in all of his colorful rooster glory…

The Pheasant

Back From a Short Hiatus.

What’s funny about the “hiatus” is that I have been working the entire time, I just haven’t been posting anything. So, I guess it really wasn’t a hiatus, but rather radio-silence for a week. But! I’m back, and I’m posting stuff!

There are four new illustrations up on the shop wall.

Active Nostalgia.

I wrote before on how I used to draw Tigers as a kid, and I don’t mean doodle. I would draw them all-day-everyday, spending a lot of time on them too. I just thought they were the coolest looking things. Still are.

The image of the Tiger didn’t bring back memories, actually drawing it was the nostalgic part. I really enjoyed this one, don’t be surprised if more show up!

The Bengal Tiger (Königstiger) No. I

I Guess I’m on a Bird Kick.

This is my third post today, woof… I’ve also posted two birds so far, well here is the third!

I have a few more in the works. You may be seeing a Cardinal and a Yellow Finch fairly soon.

Commissioned Great Blue Heron.

I recently received a custom order for a Great Blue Heron (Kanadareiher)…

Here she is.

Ann and Gary Varn seemed to enjoy it…

There will most likely be several updates today. I’m motivated after having a week off. A week!? Crazy right?

Something for the Road…

I’ll be out of town for the next few days, but I’ve listed two new illustrations in my shop

I Do Custom Stuff Now?… Yes, Yes I Do

I added two options for custom illustration orders today.

5x7 for $48.00

8x10 for $58.00

You call the shots!

Head over to the “Request custom item” link in the shop home menu on the left. Tell me about an animal you’d like, attach a photo if you wish, and send it off!

Then purchase one of the “Custom Illustration” listings. You will not be charged until the illustration has been completed and shipped.

What is this?… Dear God Why!?

I have been thinking a lot about this question recently, regarding kreaturlich. Why did I start doing this, seemingly, out of the blue? I’ve done some illustration before, but not like this. My primary field is art.

///////////////////////////////////////

The short answer is I have been wanting to do more illustration for a while now. The physical work is the same, but the toll art-making can take can be a bit much at times (especially considering my bodies of work deal with grief / fear / and death).

I am not on hiatus from my art practice, I am continually making work. But I needed something lighter in the mix.

//////////////////////////////////////

Illustration is simply fun for me. I love developing a style and honing in on it till it gets real good.

I have also absolutely loved drawing animals since I was very young. I can’t verify this, but I’m pretty sure I was born drawing a tiger.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy them!
